What was (or is) your favorite subject in school?
I loved history, especially ancient near eastern history and the classical period of Greece and Rome. I also loved religious studies, especially the classes on mythology and the one class, "Mystery of Evil", also the classes on ancient Israel religion, early Judaism and early Christianity as well as the classes on the Eastern Religions were also wonderful. Surprisingly I must have really enjoyed "The Origins of Life", a Geology class where I misses only two questions on the final exam and skewed the distribution. I can't even claim that for my favorite "Mystery of Evil" class. Surprisingly, despite being a writer, the classes I took in the English department, even the creative writing courses were abysmal failures (although I got a passing grade in them, I neither loved them nor did they enhance my life).
When was the last time you had to speak in front of a group? How did you feel?
A few months ago I had an early-bird training session at the library where I worked. It ran from 8:00 am to 8:50 am where upon we dispersed to get ready for a day of work as the library is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm weekdays. My training session was on Readers' Advisory for the Horror Genre. I had 4 attendees. I got up and for nearly 50 minutes shared my love of the horror genre and hopefully showed them how to help patrons find books to read. It was a blast and I am working on turning it into a major presentation to take to the regional library confrences.
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
Instant Folgers coffee. Instant because I can make it stronger or weaker as I wish and Folgers because its cheaper than Taster's Choice but still good. I learned to drink coffee made strong and that's the way I like it. I usually drink three cups a day because more makes my stomach burn. But man, I love that coffee.
